“Art Intersected”

Save the date, you are invited to the opening reception of “Art Intersected” at the Bereskin Gallery! The work is the expression of three artists and their journey into light, color, and form. Travel with us through the works of artists and educators David Zahn, David Anderson, and Bob Zeidler.

An artists’ life is a journey. Obviously with their private and personal experiences, but also in the realm of creativity. And how do those two journeys intersect? You may have a grand plan for a peaceful jaunt through the country, when you find yourself more on a fast-paced, wild ride such as an expressway and all the while there is a tangle of intersections that can beckon you to unknown side road quests.

The artists featured this month, David Zahn, David Anderson, and Robert Zeidler, all know too well the detours and paths less traveled in life, having recently left their vocational worlds to concentrate on fine art. The work is the expression of each artists’ journey into light, color, and form and the transitional aspects of their present paths. Each artist has control of the medium in which they portray beauty with the delicacy of simple motions of their hand. Join us in this rare look at the recent works of three artists and educators.

David Zahn, Moline, is a former teacher in the Moline School District, who spent his career creating sculptures and pottery. Along with that experience he has worked in the time to paint as well. His expression of form and figure are impactful and exhibit the skill of someone who has followed his own path.

David Anderson, Moline, like Zahn, has traveled internationally. Son of missionary parents, Anderson was one of five artists in the Marines during the Viet Nam era.  He is known for his peaceful landscapes and atmospheric expressions in oils.

Bob Zeidler, Davenport, worked his way through a 40 year advertising design career and all the while he continued to work with watercolor. For this show, Bob has taken several metaphorical forks in the road. After years of painting landscapes, riverscapes, and found objects, he’s expressed his vision with flowers as the motif, as well as journeying into acrylics, which he finds just as stimulating as the transparent watercolor medium.
